  • Replication of QKAEMP Sanitation Model
The Quetta Katchi Abadies Environmental Management Programme (QKAEMP) evolved through a well organized process that began in 1996-97. Pakistan Institute for Environment Development Action Research (PIEDAR) with Mr. Syed Ayub Qutub, Executive Director and The Royal Netherlands Embassy (RNE) studied various approaches through which low cost sanitation was facilitated in Katchi Abadies. Two approaches were found vital during this process. The Government of Balochistan has been working with the United Nations Development Program to assess how this can be achieved through the design of a Trial District Management Project (TDMP). The districts of Jhal Magsi and Loralai have been selected for the implementation of a pilot project in which new institutional arrangements are proposed on a trial basis.
