Two-Days Workshop Cum Seminar on Gender and Environment & Review of Beijing +10 Process

Jointly organized by Ministry of Women Development, Social Welfare & Special Education G.O.B & IUCN Balochistan Programme

The objectives of the workshop were to create awareness among different stakeholders, to highlight the importance of gender in environmental issues and to generate the status report on the action plan of women department and the way ahead.

Representative from various public sector institutions and civil society organizations, including Agriculture, Irrigation, Forest, Planning and development department, Balochistan Environment Protection Agency, Department of Woman Studies, University of Balochistan, SPO, BEEJ, WESS Aurat Foundation and Bolan Area Water attended the event.

Rahila Durrani, Member of Balochistan Provincial Assembly was the Chief Guest in the inaugural session while Abdul Jalil Khan, Secretary, Social Welfare Department Government of Balochistan chaired the other sessions. At the end of the first session Rahila Durrani appreciated the joint efforts of IUCNP Balochistan Programme and Social Welfare Department, Government of Balochistan for organizing such an informative workshop cum seminar.

Presentations were delivered by Professor Farkhanda Aurangzaib from Department of Women Studies, University of Balochistan, Ms. Tehseena Rafi, Coordinator Communications and Fatima Ihsan, Gender Coordinator from IUCN Pakistan.

Mr. Mohammad Riaz, DG Agriculture Extension, Government of Balochistan, was the Chief Guest on the second day when group presentations were given. The Chief Guest appreciated the wok done by the groups on recommendations of the workshop.
